I absolutely agree - SU is nearly always the source of spikes in my traffic stats.  Have you tried SU Advertising..?

It should be an effective advertising channel but they declined my ads on the only occasion I tried!  I think it very much depends what you're promoting and they didn't like what I was promoting (a business opportunity).

Might be worth checking it out, though.
